Works in Progress
A quick preview of the projects I am writing, querying, or incubating.
Current WIP: Middle Grade Fantasy Novel
Current WIP: The One Who Came Before
“Two children must learn parkour to survive their fantasy island in Mary Poppins meets the Swiss Family Robinson.”
Date Started: 8/11/25
Current Word Count: 58,125 (as of 11/14/25)
I whiled away the summer of 2025 daydreaming about the story, the world, and the characters. It is a “gift” to my seven-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son. My favorite things so far: the world (the island floats on the back of a turtle), the characters (I love the family I’m writing–and they are dearly flawed), and the themes I have chosen. I aim to have the first draft done before Christmas.
Most Recent Projects
Currently Querying: Aberrant
YA Fantasy about a scientifically-minded young woman who is expelled from magic school, but decides to save her magical world anyway. There’s a dashing prince, a unique magic system, and a cast of lovable characters. I hope an agent picks this one up — and if they don’t, I may need to get creative, because I love this manuscript. It deserves to be read.
WIP: When the Fire Came Back
A lyrical non-fiction picture book about the transformation of a Ponderosa Forest after a prescribed fire. I will be querying this after I’ve exhausted my list of agents for Aberrant. Currently in revisions.
First Draft Finished: The Dendroid Maker
Adult Epic Fantasy. A young woman believes her mother abandoned her–and made all the wrong choices during her rebellious teen years because of it. But now, as an adult, she is trying to reclaim her heritage as a “Dendroid Maker”. A more “hooky” pitch is “A single mother is hired to assassinate her childhood best friend.” The first draft is finished. More revisions to come.
